Suburban Home Renovation

Denver, Colorado, USA

A charming tudor-style home with a beautiful yard.

Project Overview

This comprehensive renovation in Denver touched every room of the house with a single unifying goal: to make the home work better for the family living in it. The project went beyond surface-level updates, addressing the underlying issues of layout, light, and connection between spaces that had quietly degraded the quality of everyday living. The finished home feels like a completely different property brighter, more open, better organised, and unmistakably modern while retaining the warmth and approachability that makes a house feel like a home.

The Challenge

The property had accumulated the challenges that are common in homes that haven't been meaningfully updated in decades. Finishes were dated throughout. The lighting was poorly distributed bright in some areas and dim in others creating an inconsistent experience across the home. The kitchen and living areas were separated in a way that made family interaction difficult, isolating whoever was cooking from the rest of the household. Storage had never been properly considered, with the resulting lack of built-in solutions affecting the functionality of almost every room.

Our Solution

The most significant structural intervention was the selective removal of walls between the kitchen and living area, creating an open-plan ground floor that finally allows the family to be together even when doing different things. New lighting systems were installed throughout the home a combination of recessed down lights, pendant fixtures, and under-cabinet lighting designed to give each space the right quality of light for its purpose. Finishes were updated consistently across all rooms, using a coordinated palette of materials and colours that gives the home a sense of unity it previously lacked. Custom storage solutions were built into every room where they were needed, from the entrance hall to the bedrooms, resolving the day-to-day frustrations that had gone unaddressed for years.
